the timeline of this au would be around the time the losers first defeated pennywise, except they are 16-17 instead of 12-13, and they’re all friends already
in search of pennywise, the losers end up in the backrooms where they must navigate through a seemingly endless dimension in between reality with nothing but their phones. at least they’re together, right?

the picture above was posted into a thread on 4chan of unsettling/cursed images. many people agree that the image gives off a weird feeling and seems strangely familiar.
the quote below it is a famous description based on the picture by an unknown 4chan user. if you've done any research on the backrooms, you've probably heard it before.

the backrooms are, as said in the description, a bunch of connected empty rooms that can only be accessed by noclipping out of the real world.

there are many different versions of the backrooms, but this au focuses on the three-level version along with my own ideas.

my version of the backrooms works almost like a video game, and there is a gamemaster who texts the losers about where they are/what they encounter.

the losers are not alone in the backrooms. there are many monsters and maybe even other people. some monsters will be from the backroom game (available on steam), and some will be my own creations based on the losers’ fears from the it movies.
